To some, this website and my life may appear to be a collection of disparate competing interests:

• What if Math uses spreadsheets and functional thinking to reinvent math education.
• Elegantly Simple joins the arts and sciences in a theory that predicts the future of knowledge.
• Sidewalk Math paints patterns on sidewalks to help young children develop numbersense.

Yet for me, these are but aspects of a singular dream, to revolutionize education. This dream, focused on patternmaking, sees the arts and creativity as central to schooling. This dream turns our classrooms into places of learning and not instruction. This dream, enabled by technology, gives every child the freedom of choice necessary for full engagement. This dream of the future of education is possible today!
